John Petty Jr.: 3 facts to know about the Alabama basketball guard

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — John Petty Jr. joined the Alabama men's basketball team in 2017.

Here is some basic info about the Crimson Tide guard. 

Height: 6 foot, 5 inches

Weight: 195 pounds

Age: 20 years old (Birthday Dec. 2, 1998)

Here are some things you may not know about John Petty. 

John Petty Jr. twice won Alabama Mr. Basketball

In both 2016 and 2017, John Petty Jr. won the Alabama Mr. Basketball. 

He received the honor at two different high schools. 

Petty played his first three years at J.O. Johnson High School in Huntsville, Alabama. When that school closed, he finished his career at Jemison High School in Jemison, Alabama. 

He finished third in Mr. Basketball voting as a sophomore. 

Petty hit 10 3-pointers in his 3rd college game

John Petty did something in his third collegiate game that no Alabama player had ever done. 

Pett hit 10 3-point shots on 13 attempts, an incredible 76.9 percent accuracy. Alabama beat Alabama A&M 104-67 on Nov. 17, 2017. 

He didn't attempt a 2-point shot or a free throw in the contest. 

Those 10 3-pointers tied for the fourth most by an SEC player.

Petty loves Drake's 'God's Plan' video 

Petty sent a tweet on Feb. 16, 2018, that said, "My respect level for @Drake is through the roof after that video of Gods plan." 

Drake published the 5-minute, 56-second video that day.
